The John Paul Chapter, NSDAR,
in Madison, Indiana, formed in 1902, is an active service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The chapter famously transformed the city's old cemetery into John Paul Park in 1904.

In the early 1900s, the chapter obtained ownership of the neglected 1823 city cemetery, relocated graves to Springdale Cemetery, and transformed it into John Paul Park (500 W. 3rd St.), securing tree donations from prestigious sources.
The chapter holds memorial services for their namesake, Colonel John Paul, a Revolutionary War soldier and city founder. They are involved in national initiatives like the America 250! commemoration and are actively planning a re-envisioning project of the park alongside the City of Madison.

As part of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, they invite women over 18 who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution to join.

the Jefferson County Historical Society is recognized as the oldest local organization of its kind in the Midwest and stands as one of the oldest in Indiana. The society preserves the region's heritage through its history and art museum with static & rotating exhibits; a restored 1895 railroad station, and an authentic 1918 caboose.
